Usage
TEX-MEX CHILLI CON CARNE
450g (1lb) minced beef
1 onion, chopped
1 packet Schwartz Flavourful Tex-Mex Chilli con Carne Recipe
Mix
400g tin chopped tomatoes
2 tbs tomato purée
50ml (2fl oz) water
400g tin kidney beans, drained
1. Fry the minced beef and onion in a deep frying pan, until browned,
then drain off any excess liquid.
2. Sprinkle in the packet contents and cook gently for a few seconds,
stirring to release the flavours.
3. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil, giving the
dish a quick stir.Finally, take down the heat, cover the pan and leave to simmer for
about 20 minutes, or until the sauce is nice and thick.
4. Try throwing a packet of tortilla chips into a large
heatproof dish. Spoon the cooked chilli con carne over and sprinkle with
a handful of grated cheese. Grill for a few minutes, until golden brown. Top with soured cream and sit back and enjoy!
VEGETARIAN SUGGESTIONS:Simply replace the minced beef with Quorn mince, or similar
meat-free mince and follow the instructions on the pack.
Mixed Pepper & Bean Burritos - Try replacing the minced
beef with a tin of mixed beans and two diced peppers. Simply fry the
onion in a little oil, until browned. Add the diced peppers, 400g tin
of mixed beans (drained), the chopped tomatoes, tomato purée
and water and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook
through for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened. Delicious
served in flour tortillas, topped with grated cheese and grilled until
golden brown.
SUITABLE FOR FREEZING
This finished recipe is suitable for freezing. Transfer the cooked
recipe to an airtight container and leave to cool. Cover and place in
the freezer for up to 1 month, for best results.
Re-heating Guidlines - Defrost thoroughly
overnight in a refrigerator. Transfer to a saucepan and heat gently
over a medium-heat, stirring occasionally, until piping hot
throughout. Alternatively, place in a microwaveable bowl, cover
loosely with cling film and re-heat in the microwave on HIGH for 4-5
minutes, stirring half-way through, or until piping hot
throughout.
