A blend of tomato, red bell peppers and oregano for a tasty slow-cooked sausage casserole.

Usage

SLOW COOKERS SAUSAGE & BEAN CASSEROLE

450g (1lb) pork sausages

1 onion, cut into chunks

400g tin cannellini beans, drained

1 sachet Schwartz Slow Cookers Sausage & Bean Casserole Recipe Mix

400g tin chopped tomatoes

75ml (3fl oz) water

2 tbs tomato purée

1. Brown the sausages in a frying pan, drain excess oil.

2. Place the browned sausages, onion and beans in the slow cooker pot.

3. Blend the sachet contents with the chopped tomatoes, water and tomato purée, and add to the slow cooker pot. Stir through.

4. Cover and cook for 4 hours on HIGH or 8 hours on LOW. (Keep covered during cooking. Cooking times vary between slow cooker models.)

5. Remove the lid, stir through and stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Delicious served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables.

Why not try using butter beans or kidney beans, or replacing the sausages with diced pork. We have tested our cooking directions in both 3.5 litre slow cookers and the larger 6.5 litre varieties.

We would recommend using our Recipe Mixes in a 3.5 litre slow cooker for best results. If you are using a 6.5 litre slow cooker we would recommend doubling the recipe, or adding more water at the beginning to prevent the recipe drying out during the cooking process, due to the larger surface area.

We have tested a variety of slow cooker brands to ensure that our directions are accurate, but it is always best to check your manufacturer’s guidelines too for more specific information on the slow cooker that you are using.
