Ingredients
- 450 g (1 lb) minced beef
- 1 packet Schwartz Lasagne Recipe Mix
- 150 ml (1/4 pint) water
- 3 tbs tomato purée
- 6 sheets lasagne pasta
- 600 ml (1 pint) cheese or white sauce
- 50 g (2 oz) Cheddar cheese, grated
A classic Italian-style lasagne of layered pasta and a rich tomato and meat sauce topped with a cheese sauce. A great family favourite, delicious served with garlic bread and salad.
Method
Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, Gas Mark 4.
Step 2
Brown the minced beef in a saucepan. Drain the excess liquid. Blend the packet contents into the water and add to the pan with the tomato purée.
Step 3
Place alternate layers of the beef mixture, pasta and cheese or white sauce in an ovenproof dish, finishing with a layer of sauce.
Step 4
Sprinkle with the cheese and bake for 35-40 minutes.
Step 5
Serve with a tomato salad and garlic bread.

Cook's Notes
This recipe is great prepared in advance. Make the Lasagne following the method above, top with the cheese and then set aside to cool. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours, then cook in the oven as above.
Try Schwartz Cheddar Cheese Sauce Mix or Bechamel White Sauce Mix, simply mix 2 packets with 600ml (1 pint) milk and follow the pack instructions to make a dleicious sauce for your lasagne.
