A creamy recipe mix with lemon, marjoram and parsley for a delicious chicken and leek bake.
For OUR RECIPE you will need ...
1 sachet Schwartz Chicken & Leek Bake Recipe Mix
450g (1lb) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced
100g (4oz) bacon, diced
225g (8oz) leeks, sliced
450ml (¾ pint) semi-skimmed milk
50g (2oz) Cheddar cheese, grated
1. Pre-heat over to 200C, 400F, Gas Mark 6.
2. Fry chicken, bacon and leeks for 5 minutes. Mix sachet contents with milk and pour over chicken. Bring to the boil, stirring and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Transfer to an ovenproof dish, top with cheese and bake in the oven for 20 minutes.
4. Serve with mashed potatoes.
Hints & Tips ...
Try adding cooked pasta to the bake before topping with cheese and baking.
Grill method: Fry chicken, bacon and leeks for 5 minutes. Mix sachet contents with milk and pour over chicken. Bring to the boil, stirring and simmer for 5 minutes. Transfer to a heatproof dish. Sprinkle over the cheese and grill until golden.
Microwave directions for 800W: Place chicken, bacon and leeks in a microwaveable dish. Cover and cook on full power for 7 minutes, stirring once. Blend sachet contents into milk and pour over chicken. Cook, uncovered, on full power for 7 minutes or until chicken is tender, stirring once. Cover surface of dish with grated cheese and then gentle melt in the microwave on full power for one minute.
This finished recipe is suitable for freezing. Transfer the cooked recipe to an airtight container, leave to cool prior to sealing. For best results use within 1 month of freezing.
Defrost thoroughly overnight in a refrigerator. Transfer to a microwaveable bowl, cover loosely with cling film and re-heat in the microwave (800W) on full power for 4½-5 minutes, stirring half-way through, or until piping hot throughout.
