Sweet and spicy, hot and sticky, these fantastic recipes are just perfect for enjoying around the bonfire while watching the fireworks. From classic toffee apples and gooey chocolate fondue to a wicked devil’s punch, this year all eyes will be on the party table as much as the sky! Who wouldn’t remember the 5th of November when it comes with treats like these?

Cinnamon toffee apple

Cinnamon toffee apple

This one’s a classic for a reason: a giant apple lollipop coated in toffee - who could say no? But one simple twist elevates this Bonfire Night speciality to whole new realms of flavour - a teaspoon of cinnamon to bring a hit of heat to the toffee coating. Make up to two days before the night and store in a dry place before serving.

Sausage and apple casserole

We love an apple in the autumn – so much that we’re popping them in savoury dishes too for a little spark of flavour! This easy casserole needs just ten simple ingredients and an hour in the oven, and is a sure-fire win for warming a few hands around the bonfire. The sweet and savoury flavours of apple and sausage blend together perfectly with a dash of dried sage.

Spicy apple pie

Not just any apple pie would do for Guy Fawkes Night – this recipe adds some fireworks into this family favourite with a touch of zingy spice. Cinnamon and nutmeg bring out whole new levels of flavour, while a little orange zest keeps it light and fruity. It’s perfect served warm with a dollop of whipped cream – but will keep for up to three months in the freezer.

Chocolate fondue

Ok, now it’s time to ramp up the fun! While you’re toasting marshmallows over the bonfire, why not dip them in a little chocolate for a really special treat? Bring some crackers and you can even make the American campfire favourite – s’mores! Add a teaspoon of chilli flakes into the mix and you’re in for a surprise that’ll delight the whole family just as much as the overhead spectacle.

Devil’s punch

Devil’s punch

Here’s one for the adults now – a gloriously rich and spicy Devil’s punch to warm your cockles. Simply heat red wine with cranberry and blackcurrant juice, add a touch of brandy and our Mulled Wine Spice mix and pour into a vacuum flask for a delicious bonfire beverage. Alternatively, blend the spice mix with apple and orange juice for a delicious non-alcoholic version.
