  • For the meatballs:

  • 450 gram (1 pound) minced beef

  • 50 gram (2 ounce) fresh breadcrumbs

  • 1 medium egg, beaten

  • 1 teaspoon Italian Herb Mix

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • For the sauce:

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoons oil

  • 400 gram (14 ounce) tin chopped tomatoes

  • 1 small red pepper, sliced

  • 15 gram (1/2 ounce) plain flour

  • 300 millilitre (1/2 pint) beef stock

  • 2 tablespoons tomato purée

  • 1 teaspoon Italian Herb Mix

  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Granules

  • Salt and Ground Black Pepper

  • 25 gram (1 ounce) pitted black olives - sliced

Instructions

  • 1 Pre-heat the oven to 200°C, 400°F, Gas Mark 6.
  • 2 Prepare meatballs by mixing the ingredients together. Shape into 24 small balls. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
  • 3 To prepare the sauce, soften the onion in the oil, add all the remaining ingredients and bring to the boil, stirring. Add the meatballs and simmer for 5 minutes.
