Mediterranean Pan-fried Tuna

Pan-fried tuna steaks, seared to lock in the flavour, served with a delicious and chunky tomato Mediterranean sauce.
  • 15 gram green olives, finely diced

  • 1 tablespoons Italian Herb Mix

  • 2-3 fresh tuna steaks

  • 1 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 1 red pepper, diced

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes

  • Schwartz Sea Salt and Black Pepper to season


  • 1 Heat a griddle or frying pan, brush with a little olive oil. Cook the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes on each side, leaving the inside slightly pink. Cook for a little longer, if preferred. Set aside and keep warm.
  • 2 Meanwhile, heat the rest of the olive oil in the pan and fry the onion for 3-4 minutes, add the pepper and fry for a further 2 minutes, add the rest of the ingredients, bring to the boil and simmer for 2 minutes.
  • 3 Serve the pan-fried tuna with a generous serving of the sauce. Great served with fresh tagliatelle.
