Quick and easy homemade pizzas made with readymade bases and a delicious tomato sauce flavoured with Spicy Italian Special Blend and topped with mushrooms, black olives and mozzarella.
  • Classic Tomato Sauce:

  • 1 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped

  • 400 gram (14 ounce) tomatoes, skinned and diced

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 75 millilitre (3 fluid ounce) boiling water

  • 4 teaspoon Spicy Italian Seasoning

  • Pizza:

  • 8 small or 2 large ready made pizza bases

  • 50 gram (2 ounce) mushrooms, sliced

  • 50 gram (2 ounce) black olives, stoned

  • 2 tomatoes, sliced

  • 125 gram (5 ounce) mozzarella cheese, sliced


  • 1 To make the tomato sauce, heat the olive oil and gently fry the onion over a medium heat for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown. Add the diced tomatoes and sugar, and cook uncovered for 20-25 minutes. Add the water and Spicy Italian Special Blend and simmer uncovered for a further 10-15 minutes, until the sauce has thickened. Bash the tomatoes with a wooden spoon to break them down if necessary.
  • 2 Leave to cool and then gently blend in a processor or liquidiser for a smoother sauce, if desired.
  • 3 Pre-heat the oven to 220°C, 425°F, Gas Mark 7.
  • 4 Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza bases and top with the mushrooms, olives, tomato and mozzarella. Place the pizzas on an oiled baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
