125 grams (5 ounces) Medjool dates, pitted

1/2 teaspoon Coarse Ground Black Pepper

225 millilitres (8 fluid ounce) hot water

Instructions
- 1 Soak the dates with the Pepper in a small bowl covered with boiling water. Leave to stand for 30 minutes, or until the dates have softened.
- 2 Remove dates with a slotted spoon and transfer to a blender container, reserving the water. Cover the blender and with the centre removed and blender running on high speed, gradually add the reserved water to the dates. Blend for 2-3 minutes on high speed, or until smooth.
- 3 Store syrup in tightly covered, clean container in a refrigerator until ready to use.
