Tofu with Chilli Sauce

Tofu with Chilli Sauce

Tofu, which is made from bean curd, is excellent served with spicy minced pork.
  • 450 gram (1 pound) tofu, cut into diagonal wedges

  • 2 tablespoons ground nut oil

  • 100 gram (4 ounce) minced pork

  • 1 teaspoon Mild Chilli Powder

  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Granules

  • 450 millilitre (3/4 pint) hot chicken stock

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoons corn flour

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced


  • 1 Blanch the tofu in boiling water for 2 minutes and then drain.
  • 2 Heat the oil and fry the pork, Chillies, tomato purée and Garlic until the pork is well cooked.
  • 3 Add the stock, tofu and soy sauce. Bring to the boil and simmer until almost all of the liquid has evaporated.
  • 4 Blend the corn flour with enough water to form a paste. Stir into the pan and simmer until thickened. Spoon into a dish and drizzle with the oil and top with the spring onions.
